Smay Trombley Architecture provides a wide range of professional services focusing on preserving our heritage with creative solutions for our future. Our services and expertise includes:
- Assessment and analysis of existing conditions and preparation of Historic Resource Surveys and Historic Structure Reports.
- Understanding and applying the Secretary of Interior’s Standards during design and implementation to guide appropriate work and meet funding and tax credit requirements.
- Code analysis utilizing the Michigan Rehabilitation Code to best guide projects with flexible and cost-saving upgrade solutions.
- Comprehensive architectural services including schematic design; preparation of construction documents, including CAD drawings and specifications; and construction observation services.
- Working with a team of experienced engineers to appropriately upgrade and sensitively incorporate new mechanical, plumbing and electrical systems into existing buildings.
- Upgrading existing buildings creatively to respectfully accommodate handicapped accessibility.
- Research of funding sources and assistance with preparation of grant applications.
Our recent and current project work includes:
- University of Michigan Historic Resource Surveys documenting the history and architecture of U-M’s North Campus, Campus Housing, Michigan Union and Michigan League.
- Phase 1 Rehabilitation of the Charlevoix South Pier Lighthouse.
- Grosse North Channel Front Range Light Exterior Rehabilitation.
- Schematic Design and detailed code analysis for the restoration of the historic Keefer Hotel in downtown Hillsdale, Michigan.
- Exterior Sandstone Repairs at the historic Port Huron Federal Building.
